Light Asphaltic Road Surfaces

Screw bound black cloth binding measuring 11.25 x 8.75", with "California Highway Commission" in gilt to front cover, containing mimeographed text printed to rectos of 124 leaves, illustrated with 54 pasted in real photographs, as well as 15 pages of tables and five illustration plates. A photographically illustrated study conducted by the California Highway Commission in conjunction with the Bureau of Public Roads, Department of Agriculture, regarding the utility and cost effectiveness of paving California roads with asphaltic oil. The study concludes that any Oregon and California roads that warrant improvement with fine crushed rock also deserve asphalt treatment, which both improves service and protects the roads. The study investigates roads throughout the American West in order to make this point, and contains real photographs depicting various western road surfaces.
