Civil War era printing of McClellan's translation of a French instruction manual on bayonet use, written while he was a Captain in the Corps of Engineers. This copy with the iconic World War I era "War Service Library" bookplate to front pastedown, with library card and pocket to rear pastedown, and stamps indicating it was donated to the library by the Citizens of Brockton, Ma. This copy also bears the 19th century owner inscription of Captain Francis Alvarez Nash a Civil War veteran from Abingson, Mass, who served in the Coast Guard. Hint of foxing to pages, wear and scuffing to covers, chipping along spine, good. Item #14396
