Hope, State Superintendent of Education, 1939. 6.25 x 3.75", red stapled wrappers with black lettering, 172 pp. A scarce directory of the segregated schools of Jim Crow era South Carolina. The first half lists various kinds of teachers (i.e. "vocational," "industrial"), divided by race into "White" and "Negro" sections. The second half, meanwhile, consists of a list of schools, including enrollment and number of teachers, similarly divided by race. This 1939-1940 edition not in OCLC.
