About Medical Hypnosis
Pittsburgh: The Pittsburg School of Hypnotism and Magnetic Healing, [1901]. 12mo, stapled booklet, 32 pp, illustrations from drawings. A scarce advertising booklet for "Hypnosis" and "Medical Hypnosis (Physicians' Edition)," by American hypnotist and occult author L.W. DeLaurence. The booklet is undated, but contains testimonials dated 1900 and 1901, and the books were first published in 1901 (an ad on the back notes that Hypnotism was in its "50th Thousandth", which also occurred in 1901). Contains promotional text for the book and regarding the benefits of medical hypnotism, mesmerism, and suggestive therapeutics in general, printing testimonials by doctors, medical journals, members of the press, and members of the public. The booklet was issued by an obscure school of hypnotism and mental healing in Pittsburgh. Contemporary ads for the book note that DeLaurence was an instructor at the "School of Hypnotism and Suggestive Therapeutics," Pittsburgh, which was likely the same school. Stamp of the school to front cover, foxing to covers, very good. Item #13655
