Drosera, Or Indian Sovereign Remedy For Palpitation of the Heart
Stanstead, C.E./West Charleston Vt. Journal Print/Bowker & Merrill, Ca 1860. Single leaf printed to recto only, 11.25 x 7.5". Together with a printed label measuring 9 x 4". A broadside advertising an "Indian Sovereign Remedy" meant to treat heart palpitation, as well as nervous debility, faintness, irregularities of the uterine functions, hysteria, and more. The lower portion, meanwhile advertises "Bowker's Laxative and Anti-Bilious Syrup." The products were produced by Bowker & Merrill of West Charleston, Vermont, but the broadside was printed over the border in Stanstead, Canada East. Together with a label for Drosera, printing directions for use. Atwater S-164 (for the broadside), suggesting a date of 1860. Broadside with five holdings in OCLC.
