Detroit, Michigan: White, Byrd & Thompson Publishing Co, 1945. Quarto, stapled pictorial wrappers, 32 pp, numerous photographic illustrations. November, 1945 issue of an illustrated magazine celebrating the achievements of African Americans. This short lived, monthly publication resumed with this issue after an unspecified pause, according to an editorial on page one: "Again we dare to publish 'Fame.' We admit we've had numerous obstacles and great difficulties." The editorial adds that "There are many people that have the ability and talent to achieve fame and lack the outlet and opportunity. 'Fame' can't say that it will find all such people, but vows to find some." To this end, this issue publishes numerous photos, together with explanatory text, of everyday and notable African Americans in Detroit and the Midwest, celebrating the work of servicemen, dry cleaners, clergy, musicians, women war workers, bars, record stores, and more. There are also a few articles and anecdotes, including "What Detroit is Doing For Its Youth Problems". Yale only in OCLC, holding the May, 1945 issue only. Mild staining to covers, small chips to wrapper corners, lower couple inches of wrappers split along spine, upper margin of pp. 27-28 trimmed with loss to upper areas of two images and to the title of one article.
