Photo Album Documenting the Childhood of Robin Nishiyama of California

California: 1951 to 1974. Photo album binding measuring 12.25 x 11.75", with name label to front cover ("Robin Tomoe Nishiyama"), containing 130 black and white and color photographs, together with 16 ephemeral items, all placed onto sticky album leaves under plastic sleeves. Most photos captioned in ink on the image itself. A well-captioned photo album documenting the childhood and upbringing of Robin Nishiyama, a Japanese American girl living in California. The album opens with Robin's baby photos, dated 1951, followed by images of Robin and family members during her childhood, posing at birthday parties, with Santa Claus during Christmas, at a Memorial Day celebration, in front of the family home, and going on trips to Knott's Berry Farm, the San Diego Zoo, Mt. Rainier, and Seattle. There are also six 8 x 10" class photos. The ephemera consists of report cards and school awards which document the Nishiyama family's moves around California--first from Berkeley to Los Angeles in 1957, then to Monterey Park, Ca by 1960. The latter portion of the album contains images from Robin's high school years, including a trip to Hawaii, while the last page shows Robin as a young woman posing with her boyfriend in 1974. Overall in excellent condition with toning to album leaves, plastic laminate loose on some pages. Item #12716
