The Cal-acre Call
El Vista and Los Angeles, California: Cal-Acre Company, 1923. Two quarto booklets. Includes Volume 1, Number 1, issued in a 9 x 12" newspaper format, with four pages and one photographic illustration. Together with Volume 1, Numbers 2 and 3 (issued as one), 12 pp, with nine photographic illustrations. A pair of newsletters published by the Cal-Acre Company to promote its real estate developments in Southern California. The company was headquartered in Los Angeles, presided over by William B. Lembke, a chicken raising expert. The first issue focuses primarily on promoting Cal-Acre's El Vista property, a farming colony located in San Bernardino County, with specific emphasis on its agricultural potential. This first issue was "published for you, as the Individual and the Colonist...Herein you will find the news of the various developments, the houses that are to be built and those erected, the number of acres planted; in fact, this is the Newspaper of El Vista, town and farms." Issues 2 and 3, meanwhile, are more centered around the company's expansion plans, and investment opportunities in buying shares of the company as it sought out more land to purchase and develop in the region. There is also discussion of El Vista and other company developments. A rare Southern California land development periodical, with no issues found in OCLC. Issues lightly toned, with damp staining to bottom of the pages of issue 2/3, particularly noticeable on the cover and next several pages. Item #12651
