Souvenir of Bay Hill

Northfield, New Hampshire: Circa 1890. Suede album binding measuring 10.75 x 8.25", titled "Souvenir of Bay Hill" on front cover, with 14 albumen photographs within, each measuring 7 x 4.5”, each captioned in a calligraphic hand. Text block edges gilt. Wear to covers, tear at head of spine, foxing and toning to pages. A photograph album depicting Bay Hill, an estate in Northfield, New Hampshire, beginning with a photograph of the "Old Copp Mansion", built by John Copp, who arrived in Northfield around 1825. The rest of the images depict the house exterior and interior, as well as the outbuildings, including a barn and water tower, plus an image of the family dogs. The Copp farm passed into the possession of Daniel E. Hill, who sold it to Mr. F.B. Shedd of Lowell, Massachusetts in 1889 for his summer estate (History of Merrimack and Belknap Counties, New Hampshire, 531). Item #10398
