Collection of Berkeley People’s Park Protest Flyers and Newsletters
Berkeley: 1969. A collection of 12 newsletters, one booklet, and 16 flyers, published in May through July, 1969, alongside a wave of protests that arose at the University of California, Berkeley in response to an aggressive police response to a May 15, 1969 protest that left one protester dead and many wounded. The newsletters and mimeographed or mechanically reproduced flyers reflect a variety of perspectives on the protests, including G.I.’s, conservationists, socialists, and the Radical Student Union. There are several flyers advocating for peaceful protest, flyers announcing rallies and protests, and flyers providing information to protesters on first aid, what to do if arrested, and defending oneself in court. In very good condition overall with minor creasing, occasional chip or tear. Includes the following:
