Monroe, Louisiana: 1973. Folio newspaper, 8 pp. Volume I, Number IV of this newspaper that served the African American community in Monroe, Louisiana. Roosevelt Wright Jr first published the paper in 1969 under the title "Rapping Black," with the purpose of providing news of the Civil Rights movement to Monroe residents. This issue prints a front page article against school busing, demanding full integration rather than such half measures. There is also an article critiquing white owned "Trojan Horse" media outlets that catered to African Americans, an article calling a locally aired film an "insult to Blacks," national and local news, ads for local African American businesses, and more. In good condition with separations to folds of first leaf, tearing along lower margin of first and last leaf, chipping and damp staining to paper. Item #10016
